Tag N Bag Adventures Axis Hunt
Just this passed weekend we got the chance to venture out to Rocksprings, TX in search of a mature Axis with a college buddy and one of the Tag N Boys himself, Wes Sadler. We hunted hard in a stand for the first few hunts with our guide Sam Longbotham. We saw a lot of good animals, but never seemed to have any luck tracking a shooter that Wes was 100% on. Until the the end of our 4th hunt, while glassing Wes spotted a group of four Axis bucks on the opposite side of the draw from where we were set up. Once we got a plan together we ditched the blind and set out on foot. The direction of the wind couldn't have been any better for this scenario because the wind was in our face and the sun at our back. Wes got within about 175 yards and made a direct heart shot and the Axis dropped. This beautiful Brown Velveted Axis was tipped out and boasting 31 1/4th and 32 1/8th beams with mass as if you were holding a baseball bat.
This is just one of the many adventures that Tag-N-Bag is striving to do and spread the adventures to the outdoors to all.
